High School Essay Writing Tips

Here are some tips for writing high-school essays:

  • Choose a topic that is neither too broad nor too narrow, but provides the right amount of text necessary for your essay
  • Write for your audience (your teacher) and not for yourself
  • Start each paragraph with the topic sentence
  • When you are describing certain events, it is best to write them in the present tense
  • For the rest of the essay, use a third-person perspective to put across your points
  • Include quotations and arguments as much as possible
  • Omit more information in the conclusion, but stick to the summary of the essay
